Running even more errands

Zeltennia Castle

After silencing Zalmour, Ramza and Delita decided it was an opportune moment to discuss their plans for the future. Listening in on them, I still didn’t get it. Was Delita a double double agent? A triple agent? He was supposed to be a templar posing as a knight for duke Goltanna, but he hadn’t shown the same zeal as Wiegraf had, and he certainly had little love for the gods.

What was his plan? For whom was he working? Before I could draw nearer to further eavesdrop on Ramza’s and Delita’s conversation, Greg invited me for an ale in the next tavern. How could I resist that?

Rhana Crabs

I hadn’t as much as wet my lips with the ale sitting under my nose when the tavernmaster, who had caught wind of our reputation well before we had arrived in Zeltennia, but had somehow missed the fact that we were heretics – or simply didn’t care – had an array of errands for us to run.

Seeing as Ramza and Delita were still chatting away, and Rapha and Marach wanted to go out to practice their own abilities, there was little else for us to do than to accept the errands. One in particular I could not resist. I hadn’t had Rhana Crab in a long time now, and brokered a deal with the tavernmaster. We would salvage the Enterprise in the Rhana Strait if he would cook the Rhana Crab dish for me if I could find him a fresh crab for it.

We set out in high spirits. I, particularly, because I was set on finding crab, but only to discover that it was their mating season and they would venture out of the strait for months. Slightly disappointed, I went back to the tavern and waited for the others to return, only to find Ramza drinking a jug of ale. No milk this time?

He needed something stronger, he claimed. Delita was meant to kill Goltanna and Larg, and their closest advisors. This meant both Ramza’s brothers too, and old Thunder God Cid, a figure of legend in the Order of the Southern Sky, count Orlandeau. Ramza seemed more concerned about Orlandeau’s well-being than about that of his brothers when he said we would find Orlandeau before all else, so we could stop the war both dukes were intent on waging. Having come across Orran, his adopted son, he knew we could count the Thunder God on our side, much more because he had been close friends with Ramza’s father. So we would find Orlandeau in Fort Besselat next.

Fine, but I still didn’t have any Rhana Crab. It has been years since I had that dish.

I am Bathsua, still wishing I had some Rhana Crab, and these are my memoirs.
