13 Capricorn
No sooner had we left Dorter for the capital of Lesalia, where we would rest and prepare to move on to Riovanes, or Ramza’s paladin radar had already picked up on another situation.
The unmistakable tremors of a stampede reached us all when we crossed the Zeklaus desert, followed faintly by the brave speech of a dead man walking. Ramza could not resist the urge to check if the owner of the voice that had carried to us was in trouble.
Come on, Ramza. Your sister is taken. The whole of Ivalice is in trouble. Now is really not the time to —
As we all followed Ramza, right there and then we decided that once again we would be sidetracked as we witnessed a young man bravely putting up a fight against a horde of behemoths. The fact that Ramza had already zipped off the cliff and threw a dagger past one of the beasts to provoke it probably had something to do with our choice to help out the boy with a death wish.
Damn you, Ramza and your newfound teleporting abilities!
Zeklaus Desert
What in the world that boy was doing there and why he thought he would be able to best a behemoth horde, was something we’d have to figure out after we had slain them. Mustadio, Agrias and I prepared for the fight ahead, and I wanted to put my orator skills to good use. But Ramza and the kid had something else in mind.
The behemoths fell one by one. Try as I might, I had not been able to entice any of them to join our side – though to be fair, it would have been a refreshing change to the flock of Chocobos that we had already amassed because someone could not stop them from breeding.
Instead, both Ramza and the dead kid walking started poaching every behemoth they slew, so there went my dreams of having a behemoth pet to drag around. Oh well, perhaps I could try enticing other monsters to join our band…
Luso, as he introduced himself, did seem grateful for our intervention, and he decided – if we’d have him – that he would join us until he found the rest of his own group of game hunters. I had the feeling that that would not happen any time soon, but at least we had an abundance of poached behemoths resting in our inventory thanks to him.
I wonder if he could also poach some Rhana crab for me. At least he’d feel right at home in our companionship.

I am Bathsua, monger of poached behemoths, and these are my memoirs.
