Plainly put

Walled city of Yardrow

I know, I know. That talking frog told Rapha not to leave our side, or Alma would die. But the tavernmaster in Yardrow had errands to run, and we had some experience to gather. I had finally learned how to use guns in jobs other than orator and chemist, and I wanted to put that skill to full use.

But if truth be told, I was rather jealous of Carmen’s ability to dual wield, and I set my sights on training as a ninja. I had a long way to go, I didn’t even know the first thing of thieving or geomancy. And what better place to learn about these jobs by putting them to target practice on the Mandalia Plains?

Mandalia Plains

Luso had only recently joined our band of squires, and he still had a lot to learn. So we decided to bring him along and show him how to learn new skills while Rapha, Ramza, Mustadio and Agrias waited for us in Yardrow.

The kid was eager to learn, and this bravery – or foolhardiness – to jump into battle and face his enemies head on steeled us all. I felt stronger and more determined just being around him and his battle cries. The best part? Some of it seemed to stick into the next battles too.

I admit, I wasn’t the bravest squire to begin with. I was nothing like Carmen who would skewer goblins without flinching or without fail. But with Luso around, I came ever closer to being at least comparable to her. The kid had to stay. Thanks to him, I made it to learning the basics of being a ninja in no time.

Now it was back to Yardrow for us, to meet up with Ramza and the others to continue our march on Riovanes.

I am Bathsua, silent but not yet deadly, and these are my memoirs.
