Lionel Castle Oratory

After killing all those Gryphons and looting their corpses, we finally made it into the heart of the castle. Cardinal Delacroix was already awaiting our arrival in the oratory and had but one question for us amid the dubious compliments he addressed to Ramza – wait, his mother was a courtesan? I glanced at Greg, but he only shrugged his shoulders. There was so much of Ramza that we didn’t know, he was not one to talk of his own past. Even until the gallows, Agrias didn’t even know that Ramza was a descendant of the illustrious house Beoulve.

Deliver him the auracite, the cardinal urged us. But Ramza did not flinch. The princess was who we came here for, not to deliver the auracite. When the cardinal grinningly claimed that Ovelia had accepted his help and was on her way to Zeltennia, none of us would believe it. Agrias herself refused to believe that her highness had chosen the help of strangers over her own trusted holy knight. Never!

What the everliving —

That the cardinal would seek to better the world, was something that came hard for us to believe at this point. He had worked with a known criminal and had ordered Gaffgarion to pull off a ruse, and to kill our band if need be. And even Ramza wasn’t as naive as to believe that anyone could bring everlasting peace to Ivalice.

Not without the auracite, the cardinal conceded and proceeded to illustrate exactly what he meant. He held up his stone, the stone he had shown Mustadio when we first came here, and in a flash he had disappeared, leaving only a pile of translucent, blubbery mess that called itself Cúchullainn, the impure. Impure he was indeed, but that name rang familiar…

Armed with pistols and holy sword skills, our holy knight, chemist, white mage and summoner selves scattered about the oratory, engaging in a game of catch where the impure blubber chased us about and casting Nightmares on us while Agrias jumped up from behind him to strike him with judgement bolts as I summoned Ramuh to my aid. Raise spells and phoenix down, and bottles of hi-potion flew about the room, but eventually, Agrias managed to strike the blob of nightmares down.

It took us a while to get the stench and the grime off of us, but we all survived. Ramza, Agrias, Mustadio, Greg and I, we survived. What in the everliving hell this creature was, I still don’t know, but it was gone.

But then, so was the cardinal. Oh man, what next?

I am Bathsua, summoner of lightning, and these are my memoirs.
