Please neuter your pet Chocobos!
Boco had been with us for the entire journey. We didn’t think we could get to Eagrose Castle and back without our little ball of feathers, but on the way to Eagrose – I’m sure it must have happened somewhere around the Araguay Woods, where we had found Boco in the first place – we had managed to attract some stowaways. Not just any stowaways, no. Eggs. They were carefully hatched by Boco as we continued.
Sure, the first egg wasn’t such a problem. If that had been the only one we had to deal with, we’d be grand. So we pressed on to Eagrose. But it wasn’t the only one. Soon, eggs and Chocobos started appearing everywhere, as if Boco had opened a gate to the void and feathery horsebirds started flooding out. Yellow ones, red ones, black ones… What were we going to do?! How would we explain this to Ramza when we’d get back?
Balias Tor
There we were, two monks, a thief, a squire and myself, the time mage. We had almost reached Ramza, Agrias, the princess, and Mustadio. The army of Chocobos had proven useful after all, bringing us at least this far. But now, we faced bombs.
Bombs, everywhere. We tried our best to bring them down as quickly as possible because we knew that if given ample opportunity, they would self destruct and bring everyone down. Racing against time, we tried our best to defeat them… But…
The first bomb fell quickly. It gave us hope. But then the second closed in on Navarre, Greg, and me. It drew breath, grew larger and then… Splat. Greg and Navarre narrowly escaped death, but we were all covered in icky oil. Another one of these self-destructing bombs we would not survive. The third bomb came closer and prepared itself. This was a race against time that not even a time mage could handle. As the third bomb blew up, I begged Carmen and Alicia to save us. If they could survive, then we were all saved.
As I lie soaking in oil, I watched in terror as the last bomb prepared to blow. We were gone. This was it. The Chocobos would have to find their own way. We would not make it… Carmen fell, and as I watched, Alicia took a knee.
But she was still standing! By the gods! We made it! The bombs were all gone, and Alicia helped get us on our feet again and cleaned us up. As we prepared to meet Ramza and the others again, we all decided we would never mention this oil-stained adventure to anyone. It would take us enough energy to explain the sudden influx of Chocobos in our absence.
I am Bathsua, slick time mage, and these are my memoirs.
