We were finally ready to give chase. All the way from Eagrose Castle, where I had run our last errand, towards the Araguay woods. A woman in Dorter had seen a Chocobo going that direction, and it fell to us to investigate. Would Delita truly be the kidnapper? How would Ovelia fare? Those were all questions we kept asking ourselves while we were side-tracked by the errands and by practising new jobs, but they would remain unanswered for a while yet because we were deterred by random rogues that appeared on the Mandalia Plains.
Araguay Woods
To be honest, there is not that much I can tell about our further uneventful excursion through plains and cities until we reached Araguay Woods. But once we arrived there, we stumbled upon the most magnificent sight. Yellow feathers ruffled as it angered and pecked at the goblins that surrounded it. They must have been hungry, and the Chocobo had ventured too deep into the woods to escape.
I begged Ramza to protect the bird. We could surely use it to get to Ovelia faster. After all, we had the time we lost running around the cities to catch up on. But I also loved the beasts. Not just any Chocobo, after all, the ones we’ve encountered so far were wild chocobos, and their feathers were always dirty, unkempt and generally awful looking. This Chocobo looked like it belonged to a stable and had been used to riding. We could not let that fine steed fall to a bunch of uncultured goblins who did not recognise greatness and would rather eat it raw?!
Gaff wasn’t on board with the idea, but he was only along for the ride. I begged Ramza, jerked his arm and squealed before he finally succumbed to my pleas and decided we’d save it. Gladly I took out several goblins, and together we had saved the magnificent beast just in time! What can I say, I love chocobos!
I named it Boco. I couldn’t think of anything better at the time, and it seems to have taken a liking to the name.
I am Bathsua, Chocobo rider extraordinaire, and these are my memoirs.
